Steve Freeman was born on September 1, 1968, just five and a half months into his mother’s pregnancy. He weighed two pounds, four ounces, and measured only twelve inches long. During the birthing process, both Steve and his identical twin brother, Kevin, stopped breathing multiple times. Kevin went to be with the Lord later that same day.
At a young age, Steve was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Doctors told his parents he would never walk, graduate from high school, or live independently. Steve’s life would unfold far differently.
After undergoing several surgeries as a child, Steve eventually learned to walk. At the age of nine, he accepted Jesus as his Savior and Lord. During his high school years, he sensed a clear calling into ministry, a calling that would shape every stage of his life moving forward.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and later completed a Master of Divinity degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Since December of 1993, he has served in full time evangelism. He also serves as Staff Evangelist at Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia.
In 2009, Steve was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Following treatment and chemotherapy, he completed his final treatment later that year. Through this season, Steve witnessed how God used his personal health journey to open doors for ministry, encouragement, and conversations with others facing similar battles.
Today, Steve remains committed to faithfully exalting Jesus, sharing the Gospel, and encouraging people through his testimony and teaching. His life and ministry continue to reflect a deep trust in God’s direction, no matter what the future holds.
