Get to know the Man Behind the Ministry

Steve was born on September 1, 1968, just five and a half months into his mother’s pregnancy. He weighed two pounds, four ounces, and was only twelve inches long. During the birthing process, serious complications caused both Steve and his identical twin brother, Kevin, to stop breathing multiple times. Kevin went to be with the Lord that same day.

At a young age, doctors diagnosed Steve with Cerebral Palsy. His parents were told he would never walk, never graduate from high school, and never live as a functional member of society. Those words were heavy for his parents to hear, but God had other plans.

As a young boy, Steve went through surgeries on his legs. Over time, he learned to walk. At nine years old, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. During his high school years, Steve felt God calling him into the ministry, a calling that stayed with him and shaped his future.

After graduation, Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He later completed a Master of Divinity degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Since December 1993, Steve has served in full time evangelism. He also serves as Staff Evangelist at Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia.
